Integrating Paylocity with Compt (Company Administrators)

Setting up the Paylocity + Compt API Integration

Once you have determined that you would like to set up the Paylocity Integration, reach out to your Customer Success Manager or support@compt.io to enable the Paylocity Integration feature for your company. After the feature has been added by the Compt Customer Success team, follow the below steps:

  1. To authenticate Paylocity, you will need to provide the following information:
    • Client ID
    • Client Secret
    • Company ID
  2. In order to get this information, you will need to fill out a Paylocity Web Services Access Request Form (linked here)
    1. The Client Contact Information should contain information about your company (for example, your HR personnel)
    2. The Vendor / Third-Party Contact Information should contain information for Compt.
    3. Under "Briefly describe use case," mention "we are using Compt to connect."
    4. You can ignore the "Webhook Push Notifications" section
    5. Permissions:
      1. "Get Employee (select only one below): Restricted (No Pay Rate, Additional Rates, or SSN)
      2. New Hire
      3. Employee Update

  1. Send your completed form to webservices@paylocity.com

The email body should contain the following:

Subject: Requesting Client ID and Client Secret


Hi Paylocity team, can we get access to a Client ID and Client Secret for API access? (https://www.paylocity.com/our-products/integrations/api-library/) We have attached the form specifying relevant permissions. 

Note: There may be a cost associated with the API setup & gathering of credentials from Paylocity.

  1. Once you have the Client ID, Client Secret, and Company ID, from Compt, go to Stipend admin, then select Company Settings and scroll down to the Employee Sync Integration section.
  2. Select Set up integration, and then click on Paylocity

  1. You will need to be a Paylocity Admin to set up an integration. On the next screen confirm that you are a Paylocity Admin.

  1. Enter your Client ID & Secret into the Compt Employee Sync Integration

  1. Enter your Company ID

Your Company ID is the ID you use to login into Paylocity, and it will be the same ID you see in the upper left-hand corner of your Paylocity portal. Enter your Company ID into the linking flow. If your Company ID is "CS932637", only enter "932637".

  1. Enter additional company IDs (optional)

If you are using multiple companies within your Paylocity account which you want to link, enter any additional company IDs on the Enter optional company IDs step. Separate multiple IDs with a comma, for example 12345, ABCDE, F0001. (Do not include a space after the comma). Enter None if you do not want to link multiple companies. Click Next once done.

Note: When providing optional companies, be aware that the same person may be employed by more than one company during the course of their employment. In these cases you would see the same employee several times (once for each company).
