Giving a Spot Bonus (Company Administrators)
A spot bonus provides additional funds (which are manually awarded) to an employee for any amount and currency to use in the same way as any regularly repeating stipend funds.
There are two ways that employees can receive a spot bonus:
1. Into an existing stipend that an employee has received funds from previously
2. Into a spot bonus stipend that can be created on the Stipends page in Compt. The advantage of creating a dedicated stipend for your spot bonus is that the employee will not need to have a pre-existing stipend that you want the spot bonus funds to be added to. Having a dedicated spot bonus stipend is a great way to design a stipend program to be issued on demand, with custom amounts and expiration dates per employee, and that will not create confusion about the expected amount an employee has in an unrelated stipend budget.
To Issue a Spot Bonus:
1. Go to the Team Tab
2. Check off the checkbox next to one or more employees' names.
3. Click the Actions button on the top left-hand corner of the screen.
4. Click Give Spot Bonus from the drop-down options.
5. You will see the employee (or employees') name in the For section.
6. Enter the amount of the bonus in the Bonus Per Team Member field. If you have only selected one team member, they will be the only member affected.
7. "For Use Toward" will allow you to select a specific stipend from the drop-down list. This list will only show the active stipends that the employee has. In the event that you have selected multiple employees, the only stipends that will be available in the list will be active stipends that all selected employees mutually have.
8. The date field labeled Usable through will allow you to specify a custom expiration date for this stipend. When giving a spot bonus into a preexisting stipend, the expiration date of the bonus will follow that of the existing stipend.
9. Currency will show your default currency for the stipend but will allow you to select a different currency if necessary.
10. You can add a message to your employee(s) using the "Message to Team Member (optional)" field. We recommend adding a note even though this is an optional field, so the employee knows what the bonus is for and for recordkeeping purposes.
11. Click Confirm Bonus and the funds will be issued to the employee(s) immediately.
