Integrating Microsoft Teams (Company Administrators)

Reach out to support@compt.io or your CSM to enable the Microsoft Teams integration for your account if you do not already see it available on your company settings page.

With our Teams integration, you and your team can do the following:

  • Share purchases with everyone in your “howicompt” channel
  • Share team recognition shout outs in your "teamrecognition" channel

To integrate with Teams:

The below steps will take you through setting up a team, setting up a channel, creating a webhook, and integrating with Compt.

Setting up a Team

You'll need an organization-wide Team, so all of the employees will be able to see the channel(s).

  1. Navigate to the Teams Tab
  2. Click on the “+” button and select “Create team”

  1. Input the name of the team, and a description.

  1. Click on the “Private” button underneath “Team type and sensitivity”. Change the privacy to “Org wide”.

  1. Click “Create”. Your new team should appear within the “Teams” tab.

Setting up a Channel

Now that we have an organization wide team, we’ll need to create channel(s) specific to Compt.

  1. Navigate to the Teams tab and click on the + button to create a channel.

  1. Select an organization-wide Team to attach the channel to, and fill out the channel name as “howicompt” or "teamrecognition". Optionally you can fill in the description.
  2. Then, for “Choose a channel type”, select “Standard”. Once “Standard” is chosen, check “Automatically show this channel in everyone’s channel list”

  1. Click “Create” to make the new channel. It should show underneath the Team you selected.

Creating a Webhook

  1. In Teams, navigate to the “howicompt” or "teamrecogntion" channel.
  2. Hovering over it, you should see “…” on the right side for more options. Select “Manage channel”
  3. You should see “Connectors” on the new page. Select Edit within the section, and search for “Incoming Webhook”. Click on the “Add” button next to it. Select “Add” again.

  1. Add “how-I-compt” or "teamrecognition" as the name for the web hook, and click “Create”

  1. Once the web hook is successfully created, you should see a generated url. We’ll copy and paste this url into the Microsoft Teams module in Compt’s Company Settings.

Integrating with Compt

  1. Log into Compt
  2. Click on Stipend admin
  3. Navigate to the Company Settings Tab.
  4. Scroll down until you see Microsoft Teams Integration, and click Edit.
  5. Add the Webhook you created in the previous step to either the "howicompt" or "teamrecognition" channel.


  1. Once the field(s) are populated within the Teams integration, check “Enabled” and click “Save changes”. Your Teams channel(s) will now be connected with Compt!
