Compt: How to Submit a Professional Development Pro™ Request and Reimbursement - Employees

Investing in your professional growth is an important part of career development, and Compt’s Professional Development Pro™ feature helps you request approval for learning expenses and receive reimbursement after completion.

Employees can submit a pre-approval request before purchasing a course, certification, or learning experience. Once the request is approved and the learning activity is completed, Employees can submit a reimbursement request with proof of payment. The status of all requests can be tracked directly from the My Development page in Compt.

If your company enables the Recommendations Page, you can also share a review of your learning experience to help other Employees discover valuable professional development opportunities.


OVERVIEW

The Professional Development Pro™ feature allows Employees to request approval and reimbursement for professional development expenses directly in Compt.

Employees can:

• Submit a request for pre-approval before making a purchase

• Track request status in real time

• Upload supporting documentation

• Submit reimbursement after completing the learning activity

• Optionally share a review of the experience with other Employees

All requests and reimbursements are managed from the My Development page.


WHEN TO USE

Use this process when:

  • You want to request approval for a professional development expense
  • Your company requires approval before making a purchase
  • You have completed an approved learning activity and need reimbursement

Examples of eligible expenses may include:

  • Online courses
  • Certifications
  • Conferences
  • Workshops
  • Training programs

Eligibility and guidelines vary by company.


BEFORE YOU START

Before submitting a request, make sure you have:

  • Access to your Compt account
  • The vendor name for the course or program
  • The estimated cost
  • The expected completion date
  • A short description explaining the purpose of the request
  • Any required supporting documentation

Your company’s program guidelines can be viewed inside the program details.


HOW TO SUBMIT A PRE-APPROVAL REQUEST

  1. Log into Compt.
  2. Click My Development in the left sidebar.

  3. Review the Professional Development Program(s) listed on the right side of the page.

  4. Click View Details to read the program description and eligibility guidelines.

  5. Click Submit a new request under the program.

  6. Enter the vendor name.
  7. Enter the requested amount.
  8. Enter the expected completion date.
  9. Add a description and reason for the request.
  10. Upload any required supporting documents.
  11. Click Request to submit the pre-approval request.

Your request will now appear on the My Development page with the status Requested.


EDIT OR VIEW A REQUEST

  1. Go to the My Development page.
  2. Locate your request in the Active Requests section.

  3. Click Edit Request if the request has not yet been reviewed.

  4. Click View Details to see the request overview and status activity.

  5. Click the Comments tab to communicate with reviewers.

If a reviewer leaves a comment, you will receive an email notification.

  1. After your pre-approval request is reviewed, you will receive an email notification with an update on the status of your request from team@compt.io. If your request is pre-approved, you can submit your reimbursement claim whenever you're ready. If it isn't approved, you'll receive details on the reason and next steps.

SUBMIT A REIMBURSEMENT REQUEST

After your request is approved and the learning activity is complete, you can submit your reimbursement.

  1. Go to the My Development page.
  2. Locate the approved request in Active Requests.

  3. Review the expiration date displayed on the request to make sure it hasn't expired.
  4. Click Request Reimbursement.

  5. Upload documents that confirm:
  • Completion of the learning activity
  • Proof of payment
  1. Review the request details for accuracy.
  2. Click Save to submit the reimbursement.

Your request status will update to Submitted.


OPTIONAL: SHARE A REVIEW (RECOMMENDATIONS PAGE)

If your company enables the Recommendations Page, you may be prompted to submit a review after requesting reimbursement.

You can:

  • Share feedback about the course or learning experience
  • Help other Employees discover useful programs
  • Contribute to the professional development community

If you do not want to share a review, click Skip to return to the My Development page.


WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

After submission:

  • Your reimbursement request is reviewed by the appropriate approver.
  • The request status will update on the My Development page.
  • Once approved, the status will change to Reimbursed.

Reimbursement is processed through payroll. For exact timing, Employees should check the FAQ tab in Compt for company-specific details.


TROUBLESHOOTING

I don't see the My Development tab.

The Professional Development feature may not be enabled for your account. Contact your HR team or email support@compt.io for assistance.

My request cannot be edited.

Requests can only be edited before they are reviewed. If the request has already been reviewed, you may need to submit a new request.

I missed the reimbursement expiration date.

Expiration rules depend on your company’s policy. Contact your HR team or Compt support to determine next steps.

I cannot upload documents.

Ensure the file format and size meet your company’s requirements. If the issue continues, contact support@compt.io.
