Submitting a Professional Development Pro™ Request (Employees)

Investing in your growth is important, and the Professional Development Pro™ feature is here to support you! This guide will walk you through how to submit a pre-approval request before making a purchase and how to request reimbursement for an approved expense.


  1. Access your Compt account, and click the My Development Tab on the left sidebar.

    (If you don’t see the My Development tab in your account, please reach out to support@compt.io for assistance)

  1. On the right sidebar of the My Development page, you will see the Professional Development Program(s) that are available to you. You can also see the real-time status of your requests on this page.


  1. Click View Details for a full description of the program and guidelines. When you are ready to submit your pre-approval request, click Submit a new request under the program.


  1. Complete the request form to gain pre-approval for your expense. Update the vendor name, amount, expected completion date, and provide a brief description and reason for the request. Attach any required supporting documents for review. When finished, click the Request button.


  1. You will now see the status show as Requested on your My Development Page. If you need to update your request before it is reviewed, click Edit Request under the appropriate request.


  1. You can also click View Details under your request to see an Overview of your request, including the status activity.

  1. While reviewing the View Details screen, you will see a Comments tab at the top, allowing you to communicate with the request reviewers. You will receive an email notification if a reviewer adds a comment to your request.

    8. After your pre-approval request is reviewed, you will receive an email notification with an update on the status of your request from team@compt.io. If your request is pre-approved, you can submit your reimbursement claim whenever you're ready. If it isn't approved, you'll receive details on the reason and next steps.

  1. When you are ready to Request Reimbursement, go to your My Development page in Compt and locate the request under the Active Requests section. Be mindful of the expiration date listed in the bottom right corner of the request, and be sure to request reimbursement before the listed expiration date to ensure you don't forfeit your funds.

  1. Click Request Reimbursement on the bottom left of the specific request to finalize your expense details and submit for reimbursement. Upload the supporting documents that confirm completion and proof of payment, and verify the accuracy of the other information in the request before clicking Save.


  1. If your company has the Professional Development Pro Recommendations Page enabled, you have the option to provide a review about your learning experience to share with others. If you do not want to share a review, click Skip to be directed back to the My Development page.

  1. You will now see that your request shows as a Submitted status. Your request will now be reviewed for reimbursement. When the review is completed, the status on the My Development page will change to Reimbursed, and the reimbursement will appear on an upcoming paycheck.

Professional Development Pro Recommendations Page

Staying on top of Professional Development opportunities can be tiring, so we've simplified it for you! If your company has the Recommendations Page enabled, you'll find it on the left sidebar of your Compt account. Not only can you share a review of your learning experience when submitting a reimbursement request, but you'll also have access to see what your peers—inside and outside of your company—are learning, helping you make informed choices about your own growth.


  1. As mentioned in step 10 above, if your company opts into using the Community Page, you will be prompted to complete an optional review of your learning experience when you submit your Professional Development expenses for reimbursement.


  1. To see reviews that other employees have left (inside and outside of your company), you can click the Recommendations Tab on the left sidebar in Compt. This is where you can access a complete activity feed of reviews. You can search using keywords, filter by industry, and engage with review posts through three reaction emojis: like, love, or insightful. You’ll also be able to spot reviews from employees in similar roles and click on the review to visit the website associated with the review.
